Accommodations
The Ayahuasca Foundation uses three different jungle camps for our ayahuasca retreats and another location for the Curandero Seminar. During our time in Iquitos one the first and last nights of the ayahuasca retreats and initiation courses, we stay at a very comfortable hotel. The jungle camps have very distinct styles and features, from the rooms and living areas to the bathrooms and ceremony spaces. The initiation course uses only one of the camps, the Ayahuasca Foundation’s Jungle Camp, which has the nicest accommodations of them all. None of the camps have air conditioning or hot water, but are still very comfortable and tranquil. All of the jungle camps take between 90 minutes and 3 hours to get to. Some hiking is involved and two of the camps require a boat trip on the Nanay river, a tributary of the Amazon.
During the Ayahuasca Retreats, one of the camps is used for each retreat, depending on the curandero leading it. All of the locations are in the Amazon Rainforest and have vast amounts of jungle surrounding them with trails for hiking and collecting medicinal plants. It is possible to see some animals around the camps, mostly monkeys, rodents, and reptiles, and a plethora of birds always frequent the locations and can be heard throughout the day. They are each represent a different style of Amazon paradise.
