The Ayahuasca Curandero Seminar

The Ayahuasca Curandero Seminar

Learn directly from the maestros of the Amazon Rainforest

The Curandero Seminar is an amazing event where participants have the opportunity to spend over 24 hours listening to and learning from authentic curanderos and curanderas from the Peruvian Amazon, as they lead intimate workshops on numerous aspects of plant spirit medicine and healing traditions with ayahuasca. Drink ayahuasca in three ceremonies during this nine day event, taking place in Iquitos, Peru.

The Schedule for the Curandero Seminar

The First Seminar Was a Big Success and we feel very confident that the next event will be even more special. It was such a true honor and pleasure to work with the amazing curanderos and curanderas that participated in the nine day seminar that took place last year, and it was an incredible group of people who made their way down to the Amazon for an educational adventure that left them happy, healthy, and whole.

The seminar format provides an amazing opportunity to listen to the true maestros and maestras of the Amazon answer your deepest questions. The learning that takes place during this short period of time is unfathomable.  Much of it sinks in later, as you begin to process it all, and see the effects of those events, those visions, those messages, those realizations. Reality changes as fast as we do, and turning towards the light can reveal a great deal. The Curandero Seminar helps us turn the corner, and change our realities by healing ourselves.

The Seminar features five four-hour workshops, each led by a different curandero, as well as five hours of presentations by those curanderos.  In addition to the workshops and presentations, there will also be three traditional ayahuasca ceremonies, each led by a different curandero, and a trip to the local zoo to connect with the animals of the Amazon Rainforest and enjoy some down time.

To complete the powerful itinerary, there is a visit from an authentic indigenous tribe, who will discuss aspects of their culture and demonstrate their songs and dances.

There will also be presentations from people working with curanderismo in more modern ways, and a film will be shown featuring one of the presenting curanderos healing a cancer patient, among others.

The curanderos for this program have been selected because of their commitment to spreading the wisdom of ayahuasca and plant spirit medicine throughout the globe. Their hearts are pure and their desire to heal the world is strong. They believe that many people in other countries are being called to work with the spirit and need guidance as they begin the journey, a journey that the healers of the Amazon Rainforest have been continuing for thousands of years.

DONY COTRINA
With 24 years of experience on the spiritual road, dona Cotrina studied with her Grandparents, who were decendents of a long line of curanderos from the chayahuita tribe, in a small village near Tarapoto. Her knowledge of the plants is extensive and, like most curanderos and curanderas, she works with many other plants besides Ayahuasca. She has healed such afflictions as cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and many other illnesses. She will be leading the workshop on Ayahuasca preparation where she will also be discussing the use of agua florida and other plant tinctures in her practice.

DON LUCHO
A highly respected mestizo curandero from Iquitos with more than 25 years experience, don Lucho is the director and founder of KAPITARI, a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of Amazon biodiversity and the investigation of traditional medicines. The organization aims to educate and capacitate local mestizo and indigenous communities in sustainable land-management practices. Don Lucho is passionate about the conscious reforestation of the jungle, as well as spreading the wisdom of ayahuasca and the countless medicinal plants. He will be leading the workshop on Medicinal Plants at the Allpahuayo Reserve.

DONA OTILIA
The daughter of indigenous curanderos (both parents were healers), dona Otilia never had a set initiation, for she grew up in the environment of plant spirit medicine from birth, and thus knew the science her entire life. Her entire childhood was an initiation. Otilia’s specialty is reading cigarettes, a form of divination similar to tea leaves or tarot cards. The way the cigarette burns indicates a great deal. She will be demonstrating this technique and explaining how she incorporates it into her healing practice in the Chakapa workshop. She will also be discussing plant bath preparations, and medicinal plant remedies.

DON JUAN
A mestizo ayahuasquero who lives on the outskirts of Iquitos, don Juan’s grandfather was a samurai who immigrated to Peru. After returning from service in the Vietnam War, where he recieved a purple heart, this unique healer studied with many indigenous tribes throughout the Amazon region. A curandero who has healed everything from cancer, herpes, and AIDS to alcoholism and depression, don Juan has experienced more than most people ever will. He will be leading the workshop on icaros, the healing songs that communicate with the spirits, where he will showcase his beautiful singing voice.

DON ENRIQUE
A shipibo curandero originally from a community near Pucallpa, don Enrique now lives in Iquitos spreading his ancestral tradition that was passed on to him from his father, a gran maestro who still lives in his community. Don Enrique and his wife, Wilma work together to heal patients from all walks of life with all kinds of illnesses. He will be leading a workshop on the use of tobacco as well as the healing process as a whole, hopefully clearing up any lingering questions for everyone before the last ceremony. Don Enrique’s wife creates beautiful and profound work of art on fabric inspired by Ayahuasca visions.

Each curandero will give a 45 minute presentation and answer 15 minutes of questions.
They will each lead a 4-hour workshop, as well as three ceremonies at off-site locationsnd three of them will lead ceremonies during the seminar. You will attend a workshop with every curandero and will have the opportunity to drink in ceremony with up to three different curanderos.
