Don Enrique is a Shipibo curandero originally from the San Fransisco community near Pucallpa. He now lives in Iquitos and works with Carlos leading courses and retreats for the Ayahuasca Foundation. Don Enrique comes from a long line of curanderos and began studying with his grandfather at the age of 11. With over 30 years of experience, don Enrique is an excellent curandero. He drinks in his home near the Boulevard very often, but during the retreats and courses he uses the Ayahuasca Foundation’s jungle camp.

Don Enrique gave me a great Shipibo bang cut after I completed my chakapa. Unfortunately, my trip only brushed with meeting he and his wife, and seeing the new Market. There’s always ‘again’, though!
I drank in 4 different ceremonies with Don Enrique in June of 2010. His vast knowledge of plant medicine is stunning and stands only in the shadow of his enormous sense of care and concern for those he is treating.
In my experience with Don Enrique and the Ayahuasca Foundation I was extremely at ease and comforted by their candor, professionalism, and respect for every member of our group.
Any questions or concerns about all the various administrations, methods of delivery, list of ingredients, and general use of plant medicine was welcomed and easily shared between Enrique and the members of our group. His is truly a maestro of his craft, yet pulls no punches or is reticent to withold any information from you. This can be a rare quality in an ayahuascero and with his immense power there lies an immense love and concern for his fellow people, all people.
