Amazon Tribes Directory
There are dozens of indigenous tribes in the Amazon Rainforest with profound knowledge of plant spirit medicine. Unfortunately, much of that knowledge is being lost due to the invasion of western culture and it’s ignorance based self perception of superiority. Because of technological materialism, westerners, the majority of whom were and still are Missionaries, were able to convince the indigenous tribes that they are inferior to them.
During the rubber boom of the late 19th century, many indigenous tribes were enslaved by men without morals, capitalists who were willing to do whatever it took to make money. They hunted down the curanderos of the tribes they enslaved because they knew that if they killed the most powerful people of these tribes they would instantly be much easier to dominate and control. Along with the lives of the curanderos was lost a vast knowledge of plant spirit medicine, as well as most of the pride the indigenous tribes had for their wisdom and ancestral history.
The Ayahuasca Foundation is committed to preserve and protect the remaining wisdom of these amazing people. Through our cultural tourism programs, we will demonstrate to the world how important indigenous wisdom is, and we’ll remind the indigenous tribes themselves of how proud they should be of who they are, instilling in them the desire to continue their cultural traditions and teaching them to their future generations. The fact is that humanity needs these traditions, for they alone can bring us back to a state of harmony with our environments, health in our communities, and peace in our nations.
This directory is one part of that project.
